Our Policy Regarding Insurance

At Newnan Dentistry, we enjoy working with families who are covered by dental insurance, and we are totally committed to assisting our patients realize their maximum benefits. Patients are reminded that their policy is an agreement between them and their insurance company, and not between the insurance company and the dental office. Consider dental insurance as a scholarship from the employer. It is designed to assist patients financially with their dental care.

As a courtesy to our patients, we are happy to complete and forward insurance forms relative to dental treatment, and we will do so without charge. In order to avoid misunderstandings, please carefully read and understand the following policies in regards to dental insurance benefits.

  • Newnan Dentistry assists patients in maximizing their insurance benefits but reminds them that insurance is an agreement between the patient and their provider, NOT the dental office.
  • Patients are responsible for payment, though the office staff will file insurance claims as a courtesy.
  • Insurance coverage is estimated and not guaranteed; patients must cover any unpaid balances.
  • Many policies only cover 30-50% of treatment costs and may have deductibles, co-insurance, or maximum limits.
  • Insurance companies determine “usual and customary feeds,” which may differ from office fees.
  • Patients mush finalize financial arrangements before treatment begins.

Patients with dual coverage should notify their insurance provider for possible benefits coordination. However, some companies do not coordinate benefits.

  • Managed care plans reduce costs by lowering reimbursements, limiting care access, and restricting treatment options.
  • To maintain our mission to providing high-quality care, materials and techniques, Newnan Dentistry does not participate in managed care programs.
  • Lower-cost plans often lead to lower quality treatment and fewer available options.
  • Patients should familiarize themselves with different types of insurance plans before choosing coverage.
  • Newnan Dentistry is committed to providing high-quality care, even if it means not accepting certain insurance plans.

Why We Choose to Be Out of Network

  • Insurance Company Restrictions on Treatment

Many insurance companies dictate what services can be performed. This often results in patients not receiving adequate care.  Our recommendations are based on patient needs and expectations, not policy limitations.

  • Limitations on Materials

Insurance companies regulate the type of materials used in treatment. This often leads to the use of lower-quality products to offset reduced fees. Example: Insurance may only cover silver fillings for back teeth instead of tooth-colored materials. Our office prioritizes high-quality materials for long-lasting and effective results.

  • Time Restrictions on Visits

Many insurance companies dictate how much time can be allotted per visit.  This leads to rushed treatments or unnecessary multiple visits.  We are committed to providing the highest level of care, giving patients the attention they deserve.

  • Financial Considerations

We understand finances play a role in choosing a dental provider. However, initial cost savings with in-network providers may lead to more expenses in the long run. Some reduced fee offices may recommend over-aggressive treatment or have hidden out-of-pocket costs.

  • Our Commitment to Quality Care

We choose to uphold the highest standard of dental care rather than compromise quality to fit insurance constraints. Ultimately, we believe treatment decisions should be made by you and your doctor, not dictated by insurance policies.
