Mercury-Free Tooth Colored Composite Fillings

White composite fillings look just like your natural teeth.  These fillings are done with state-of-the-art materials that will make your teeth stronger, healthier – and much more attractive!

Composite fillings are tooth colored quartz-like material that is 100% mercury-free.  After tooth decay is removed and cleaned, this tooth colored material is layered into the tooth. Each layer is hardened or cured with highly intense visible light, and the final surface is shaped and polished to match the tooth. The final restoration is virtually invisible.

What is a filling?

A filling is used to restore a tooth damaged from decay.  It helps bring the tooth back to its normal function and shape while preventing further decay by closing off spaces where bacteria could enter.  There are a few different types of fillings: gold, amalgam (silver), composite (plastic) resins, and porcelain.  Before a cavity is filled with one of these materials, the dentist will first remove the decay and clean the affected area.

Fillings may also be used to repair cracked or broken teeth or teeth that are worn by unusual use (nail biting, teeth grinding, using your teeth to open things, etc.)
