Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers are an excellent cosmetic remedy for a variety of dental conditions affecting the appearance of the front teeth. Veneers are durable and color-stable, providing a perfect way to restore the natural function and beauty of your teeth, so you can smile with confidence!

Veneers are made out of thin, semi-translucent “shells” of porcelain and permanently bonded to your teeth. They are a work of art, carefully crafted in a laboratory to fit your individual smile.

Why get Porcelain Veneers?

If you have any of the following and want to improve the look and function of your smile, veneers may be a good option for you:

  • Poor color, shape, or contour
  • Fractured teeth
  • Gaps between front teeth
  • Bite-related problems
  • Superficial stains that do not respond to tooth whitening

As always, it is best to discuss your options with a dental professional to determine the best method to meet your needs.

Caring for your Veneers

It is important to schedule a follow-up visit with your dentist for the week after your veneers have been placed.  This allows the dentist to make sure the veneers fit properly and check how your mouth is reacting.  You should continue to care for your veneers just as you would your natural teeth: Brushing and flossing daily.  Generally, a non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste will be recommended.

If you have a tendency to grind or clench your teeth, your dentist may recommend a custom fitted night guard to protect your veneers from damage.

Before getting Veneers

Often it is advantageous to whiten all teeth before treatment because the laminates allow color transfer from beneath. This further insures a whiter, brighter smile.
